a monkey on your back & a flower in your hat

that’s the title of one of my favorite pieces of art i’ve created. i did this one last year 5/19/20. it’s drawn with alcohol ink markers, sharpie & acrylic paint and is 16x11” on paper. i like it bc it’s free, expressive, colorful and was fun to create. i started out with just a basic color background in color blocks of sorts. then i drew an abstract drawing of a haughty woman with a monkey sitting on her shoulder handling his penis and the ugly woman is wearing an overly decorated hat with flowers. i was expressing my dislike for just such women when i drew this and how utterly foolish and shallow they are to me. so then i added lots of line & color. i wasn’t completely happy with it until i did something that i have started doing to help my perspective...i flipped it. turned it upside down. I FELL IN LOVE!!!! at that point i added richer areas of color with acrylic paint while being particular about not covering too much line. i plan to frame this one.
